Stuff I like

I don't use google buzz anymore. Because the relationship I have with people I email: they are not my "friends." They are "everyone I've ever emailed."

I guess the thing is that I want the extremely limited number of people who might be interested in what I have to say to be able to find it, but I don't want to just shove it in their faces (facebook, twitter, buzz).

Maybe it's just a self-esteem thing, but I just don't have anything to say that I feel like other people have to know right now. A blog is just about right for me, it gives me something I can look back on, and forces me to think about writing. Being public focuses my attention on who I want to be much more than who I am today.

So, if you're wondering where my buzz went, it's here if you want it, but you'll have to look for it a bit. (Or subscribe to this in an rss reader.)

Quick shout out to highsnobiety. Thank you so much for sending me an LRG bag. I'm not quite sure if it's my style, I'm going to have to buy some new sneakers (it will go great with those coming-soon lo-tops). But at the price of free, that's great.

Kahlua is my roommates' dog. She is the sweetest pit/boxer? mix I've ever seen. It's nice living with a dog that you don't have to take care of.

That is all.

Track of The Day

♫ Yeasayer - "Madder Red" [MP3]

Ok, they also sound kinda like Animal Collective, but also kinda like Tears for Fears, which is kinda like awesome.

Track of The Day

♫ Keepaway - "Yellow Wings" [MP3]

Ok, they sound like Animal Collective. Then why do I like this better? Maybe because it's got a good beat and you can dance to it.

Track of The Day

♫ Stricken City - "Small Things" [MP3]

Sorry about missing a few days. What can I say, I was busy, but this song rocks.

Ok, here's a tip for everyone who moves to Canada from the US. This is really important, so listen up.

Don't buy things online from US shops. Period. Because the shipping will kill you.

If you're a technocratic (lazy) person like me, online shopping is just sort of a way of life -- you buy stuff online that you want, but don't need right away, and don't want to take time out to actually go out and buy, or just might be hard to find.

Such as, oh, LPs maybe.

Now, if you're me, you've been buying these things practically your whole life from Amazon, Target, and for LP's Insound.

But if you're in Canada, the rules change quite a bit. You have to pay some crazy tax after the shipping, and if you use UPS or FEDEX you have to pay a customs brokering charge.

While it is true that you can use "expedited" services from them, those expedited services are crazy expensive, charging as much as 100 dollars for a 3 pound (1.35 Kg) item. Now that's insane, when you bought a fukcing 100 dollars worth of stuff.

Also, it is possible to use USPS or Canadian Post and I "hear" that you don't have to pay a "brokerage" charge. But, this is the key point: online shopping is supposed to be hassle free, and this is not.

So, not buying American is the way to go here people. Too bad, I'm about to get raped by UPS. Well, maybe not raped, literally, but anally violated (tomayto/tomahto). Just wish Canadian companies did a better job of marketing online. Capitalism doesn't work when you don't promote your brand, people. What is the Canadian Target? What is the Canadian Amazon??? What is the Canadian Insound?????? Let me know.
